Hii, my fellow readers. This week's book is 'Famine' by Laura Thalassa. The third book in the 'Four Horsemen" series.

This book was a little bit different than the previous books in the series. Our heroine 'Ana' was not our hero in this story, but a broken girl, beaten by her own kind. She endured a lot of things and remained kind and fighting for humanity. Famine was hard and cruel to everybody until he met Ana. They were enemies from the start. Yet, they couldn't stay away from each other.... And that's how their slow-burn romance started. They get to know each other more and more, and I enjoy how they react to each other, knowing what it means. The teasing and inside jokes make it exciting to read.

The world-building is big and I imagine a lot of cities and places that are destroyed by the horsemen and humankind. There is no map because it takes place in our contemporary world. Laura describes the world well enough to imagine how it seems.

I really like 'The Four Horsemen' series. It's similar, yet different. Each story endures another love story, different pain, and different fights. And each horseman follows up on the story. This makes the series fun to read and to discover. Famine is supposed to be the 'killer'. However, I'm very curious about 'Death'. Famine had a lot more cruelty to it. Because of the backstories of our characters. But they find each other and that makes the story softer to read. There were parts where the pacing was slow, but it didn't last that long. I'm really invested in this series and I can't wait to read 'Death'. Somehow, I feel like Famine's story isn't over... Because the plot was big.

Synopsis:
They came to earth: Pestilence, War, Famine, Death. Four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all. Ana Da Silva always assumed she'd die young, but she never expected it to be at the hands of the haunting immortal who spared her life years ago. Famine. But if the horsemen remembers her, he must not care, for when she comes face to face with him for the second time in her life, she's stabbed and left for dead.

Only, she doesn't quite die. If there's one thing Famine is good at, it's cruelty. He can't forget the pain humanity has brought him, and he's ready to bring it back to them tenfold. But when Ana, a ghost from his past, corners him for what he did to her, she and her empty threats captivate him, and he decides to keep her around.

In spite of themselves, Ana and Famine are drawn to each other. But at the end of the day, the two are enemies. Nothing changes that. Not one kind act, not two. And definitely not a few steamy nights. But enemies or reluctant lovers, if they don't stop themselves soon, heaven will.

Love, ❤
