Hello my fellow readers. Today I wanna talk about the book "The Cruel Prince" ( The Folk Of The Air 1) by Holly Black. This book was on my TBR-list for so long and I finnaly read it. To be honest, I'm glad that I finally read it because I can't get enough of this story. My next read is "The Wicked King" by Holly black. The second book of 'The Folk of The Air'.
I find this story such a powerfull feminine story. Jude feels as a weak person because of her mortuality, but she is not weak at all. She is a strong woman and she will show that to anybody who stands in her way. Even the beautiful Cardan, who is a prince and hates Jude as much as his friends does. The character building is amazing, you live the story together with Jude and you read how she grows as a person.
The world is beautiful with the magic and the creatures. You can feel the magic true the book and it's on a thin line with the mortal world. The map on the beginning of this book, makes it visually how it would be so you get a better sight of it while reading it.
Holly did an amazing thing on this story. I loved how she written it. Such exciting and powerful read. I really enjoyed this book and I'm way to excited to read the next book 'The Wicked King'.
Synopsis:
Of course I want to be like them. They're beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever. An Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.
Jude was seven when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten Years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.
To win a place at the Court, she must defy him and face the consequences. As Jude becomes more deeplu embroiled in the palace intrigues and deceptions, she discovers her own capacity for trickery and bloodsked. But as betrayal threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.
