Hello my fellow readers. Today I wanna talk about this book, The Wicked King by Holly Black. The second book of series 'The Folk Of The Air'. Last week I reviewed The Cruel Prince. I loved that book so much that I couldn't wait for the second book TWK.
Jude has gone from a weak mortal to the most powerfull being in the Faerie-world. The character build from book one was amazing, but in this book she became wiser and powerfuller. Wasn't that always what she wanted? To be a powerfull mortal in a world that wasn't hers? I really like Jude. She is such a badass, but also such a mortal (a powerfull ofcourse) Because she isn't always that wiser when her feelings get in the way. But that's human and that's what I like about her.
Cardan was always a bad influence on everybody. But is that really the truth? Is he really a bad person? because we see all the red flags, but do we know it al? I feel like he is a red flag but not for Jude. Anyway, Cardan you are everything!
Taryn, I still don't like you. You are a traitor. But I do hope you will truly see Locke as the A*hole he is, and I hope you will kill him.
The world still looks beautiful to me, you get a map at the beginning of the book and the worlds are written so magical. You really can imagine how the world would look like in real life.
The ending of this book was such a twist. It really got me nerve breaking for the next book (haha). I read this book so fast, It really is one of my favorite series so far. It got me reading until the late hours and I find my sleep really important. So.. I'm just saying. All the characters in this book are sooo interesting and have a connection with each other. The writing is amazing, It looked so easily written by Holly but she put the story so well together. So far, I love this series! I really recommend this to everybody who like fantasy -Ya books.
Synopsis:
The enchanting and bloodthirsty sequel to the New York Times bestselling novel The Cruel Prince.
You must be strong enough to strike and strike and strike again without tiring. The first lesson is to make yourself strong.
After the jaw-dropping revelation that Oak is the heir to Faerie, Jude must keep her brother safe. To do so, she has bound the wicked king, Cardan, to her, and made herself the power behind the throne. Navigating the constantly shifting political alliances of Faerie would be difficult enough if Cardan were easy to control. But he does everything in his power to humiliate and undermine her even as his fascination with her remains undiminished.
When it becomes all to clear that someone close to Jude means to betray her, threatening her own life and the lives of everyone she loves. Jude must uncover the traitor and fight her own complicated feelings for Cardan to maintain control as a mortal in a Fearie world.
Love,
