Hello my fellow readers. Today I wanna talk about the book "A Touch of Darkness" by Scarlett St. Clair. This is the first book of the series Hades & Persephone and self published.

When I started this book I thought it would be more about mythology, but it's more about a love story between a "shy" girl and a bad/powerful guy in a mortal world. Except they are both Gods. So the mythology did something to make the story better, but I missed a lot more then that.

The Characters where fascinating. I liked Hades, because he seems really bad and all, but he actually is a descent and understanding God.
Persephone is a little bit naïve in my opinion and a 24 year old virgin. She always did what was expected from her and she did, until Hades told her not to. So she became powerfull.
I really don't like Minthe, but I guess that was the point of her character.
And Hecate is the witch you like to befriend.

There is not really a world building. There only is: The Underworld, New Athens, and the clubs, the university and the workplace from Persephone.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book. However I missed some depth in the story. I know there are more books of this series and books in Hades perspective. But I missed the base of the story in this one. I thought there would be more mythology in it, but instead there were Gods with party clubs and some powers. Anyway, I am curious where this story is going and I hope to discover more about this series, but I am a bit afraid that the story is gonna leap and that it's only gonna be a smut series (which is also good, but I like a good story to read). Because there is some good smut in this book. It's a fun book to read between other books.

Synopsis:
Persephone is the Goddess of Spring by title only. The truth is, since she was a little girl, flowers have shriveled at her touch. After moving to New Athens, she hopes to lead and unassuming life disguised as a mortal journalist.

Hades, God of Dead, has built a gambling empire in the mortal world and his favorite bets are rumored to be impossible.

After a chance encounter with Hades, Persephone finds herself in a contract with the God of the Dead and the terms are impossible: Persephone must creat a life in the Underworld of lose her freedom forever.

The bet does more than expose Persephone's failure as a Goddess, however. As she struggles to sow the seeds of her freedom, love for the God of the dead grows and it's forbidden.

Love, ❤
