Hii, my fellow readers. This week's book is 'Icebreaker' by Hannah Grace. The first book of the Maple Hills series (you can read Icebreaker as a standalone). A sports romance you'll get addicted to.
This book is so fun and adorable. This was my first Sports romance, so I was a little bit skeptical. But I loved it.
The MC is Anastasia and Nathan. Anastasia is a bossy figure skater. Her character is such a fun character because she is very perfectionistic and bossy on the ice, but off the ice, she changes into a wild character. Nathan is a hockey player, he is huge (handsome and manly) and has a big heart. He does everything for others to help them, even when it gets him into trouble. I really like their character buildups and how they grow to each other. There are many more characters that are enjoyable, like Henry (he says as he thinks), JJ, etc...
The world-building is simple. It takes place on campus, at the ice rink, and on vacation. Hannah did a great description of how everything looks. You'll get a good idea and it seems like such a wonderful place.
I really liked this book, it was such a fun romance book. Tropes are: (fr)enemies to lovers, grumpy X sunshine. There is some good smut in it as well. This book had a great buildup to everything. It's a little big book (+400 pages) but it didn't feel like a bigger book because it reads very easily and it was very addictive to read. After Icebreaker, I'm really excited to read the next book 'Wildfire' and I'm excited to read more sports romance books. Overall, I loved Icebreaker. I loved how it was written and how the build-up from the romance was. I really recommend this book, and hopefully, you'll enjoy it as much as I did.
Synopsis:
Anastasia Allen has worked her entire life for a shot at Team USA. A competitive figure skater since she was five years old, a full college scholarship thanks to her place on the Maple Hills skating team, and a schedule that would make even the most driven person weep, Stassie (Anastasia) comes to win.
No exceptions.
Nathan Hawkins has never had a problem he couldn't solve. As captain of the Maple Hills Titans, he knows the responsibility of keeping the hockey team on the ice rests on his shoulders.
When a misunderstanding results in the two teams sharing a rink, and Anastasia's partner gets hurt in the aftermath, Nate finds himself swapping his stick for tights, and one scary coach for an even scarier one.
The pair find themselves stuck together in more ways than one, but it's fine because Anastasia doesn't even like hockey players... Right?
Love, ❤
DarkBlue.
