Hii, my fellow readers. This week's book is "The Shadow Between Us" by Tricia Levenseller. The first book in "The Shadow Between Us" duologie series. An anti-hero story where our MC starts off as a villain. I really liked the sound of that and I overall really enjoyed reading this book.

TSBU was on my TBR for a long time, and when I saw this book lying in my city library. I had to take it home. Our MC starts strong, not as a heroin, but more like a villain who wants to kill the King, because she just wants all the power in the world. She even had a whole plan to trick him. And I have to say, the (sexual) tension between Alessandra and King Kallias, was there. But this is a YA book so there isn't much sexual content in it (which I found to be a total bummer).

The world-building was ok, there wasn't much of a world-building. It mainly takes place in the castle where Alessandra is staying. No big world, but that's not necessary in this story (also, theres no map either). Tricia focused mainly on the characters and the relationships between them. That was ok for me, because I don't think the worldbuilding was the main focus for this book and that's ok.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book. I liked that Alessandra wasn't the only one who wanted to kill Kallias, I liked that she fell in love with Kallias, I liked their relationship development and how they started off as just friends, I liked how the plot twist was unexpected and I liked this story as it is (maybe even better if it was NA, but that's my preference). I'm curious to read the next book "The Darkness Between Us", but I'm not overly excited about it because I thought that TSBU was enough as it is. Still, my curiosity gets the better out of me.

Synopsis:
Alessandra is tired of being overlooked, but she has a plan to gain power:
1. Woo the Shadow King.
2. Marry Him.
3. Kill him and take his kingdom for herself.

No one knows the extent of the freshly crowned Shadow King's power. Some say he can command the shadows that swirl around him to do his bidding. Others say they speak to him, whispering the thoughts of his enemies. Regardless, Alessandra knows what she deserves, and whe's going to do everything within her power to get it.

But Alessandra's not the only one trying to kill the king. As attempts on his life are made, she finds herself trying to keep him alive long enough for him to make her his queen. All while struggling not to lose her heart.

After all, who better for a Shadow King than a cunning villainous queen?

Love, ❤
