Hello my fellow readers. Today I wanna talk about "Fable" by Adrienne Young. It's the first book of the bookseries 'Fable'. The second book is Namesake. This book was on my TBR for a long time. First I thought it was about mermaids (because of the cover) but it's not, it's about pirates.
The characters in this book are intrigue. Fable is a powerful women. Not only because her father is the most powerful trader of the Narrows but because she can survive in a man's world. She lived for four years on an island with only man who steal and kill. I really liked her character.
West is an mysterious guy. He is the leader of the crew 'The Marigold'. But he has his secrets that keeps you reading to find out. In fact, the whole crew has their secrets and it's exciting to find out.
Fable's father, Saint, is a terryfing man. A lot of people are scared of him and he left his daughter on an Island with thieves and killers.. What was he even thinking? Anyway I find him interesting.
The worldbuilding is fun, the map is a bit limited. As you can see on the picture that's it for the map. It's a beautiful map tho, but I miss the extensive of it. You can let your imagination go on this book because of the description but I prefer a bigger and prettier map (because who doesn't like that?).
It's a fun, adorable and simple story which I enjoyed reading. Maybe it's a simple story because it's just an introduction and the second book is the real deal? I don't know, but I'm gonna read the next book 'Namesake'. It's a gorgeous bookcover. The main character is great, the atmosphere is good and it's about pirates. The romance is oké, I hoped it would have more romance in but it's not much (however the romance in it is adorable). I like reading this story and I can't wait to read the second one (Which I have high expectations for).
Synopsis:
For seventeen-year-old Fable, the daughter of the most powerful trader in the Narrows. The sea is the only home she has ever known. It's been four years since the night she watched her mother drown during an unforgiving storm. The next day her father abandoned her on a legendary island filled with thieves and little food. To survive she must keep to herself, learn to trust no one, and rely on the unique skills her mother taught her. The only thing that keeps her going is the goal of getting off the island, finding her father, and demanding her rightful place beside him and his crew. To do so Fable enlists the help of a young trader named West to get her off the island and across the Narrows to her father.
But her father's rivalries and the dangers of his trading enterprise have only multiplied since she last saw him, and Fable soon finds that West isn't who he seems. Together, they will have to survive more than the treacherous storms that haunt the Narrows if they're going to stay alive.
Welcome to a world made dangerous by sea and by those who wish to profit from it. Where a young girl must find her place and her familie while trying to survive in a world built for men. Fable takes you on a spectacular journey filled with romance, intrigue, and adventure.
Love, ❤
