Hello my fellow readers. Today I'm gonna talk about the book, LORE. It's written by Alexandra Bracken and it's a standalone book.

Lore is a combination between Percy Jackson and The Hunger Games (happening every seven years). So if you enjoyed reading these books, I recommend this one.

Lore is a girl who lives in New york, escpaded the Perseous bloodbath and is hiding for her previous world full of Gods. She was a God-hunter-in-training but lives as a fistfighter at the moment. I really enjoy her (main)character because she is strong and she has fury in her character. Except.. She can be very naïve..

The other characters are fun to read as well. Some things in friendship and love-interest were kind of expected. Especially because it's - a friends to lovers - book. Some friendships I did not expect.

There are a lot of living lines and dead lines (bloodlines/houses of particular God's), it really was confusing sometimes, but the book comes with a table of the living lines and dead lines so you can search it up when you can't follow anymore which is a good thing.

The world-building is kind of normal. It takes place in New York and there are special places in the book, but not spectacular (See map in the picture below).

I started this book with a good mindset. I really looked forward to reading this book. However It was confusing in the beginning and the story took a long time to finally start to be interesting. There were a lot of God's, houses, and lines which was really confusing at the moment (but the table in the book helped me a lot!) But overall the story was fun to read, the characters were enjoyable and there were plottwist during the story which I really enjoy reading. I thought it was a nice story to read, but I was not in love with the story (if you know what I mean). But as I said, If you like Percy Jackson or the Hunger games, then you would enjoy reading this book as well.

Synopsis:
Every seven years, the Agon begins. As punishment for a past rebellion, nine Greek gods are forced to walk the earth as mortals, hunted by the descendants of ancient bloodlines. All eager to kill a god and seize their divine power and immortality.

Long ago, Lore Perseous fled that brutal world in the wake of her family's sadistic murder by a rival line, turning her back on the hunt's promised of eternal glory. For years she's pushed away any thought of revenge against the man -now a god- responsible for their deaths.

Yet as the next hunt dawns over New York City, two participants seek out her help. Castor, a childhood friend of Lore believed long dead, and a gravely wounded Athena, among the last of the original gods.

The goddes offers an alliance against their mutual enemy and, at last, a way for Lore to leave the Agon behind forever. But Lore's decision to bind her fate to Athena's and rejoin the hunt will come at a deadly cost, and still may not be enough to stop the rise of a new god with the power to bring humanity to its knees.

From the #1 New York Times best-selling author  of the Darkest Minds comes a sweepingly ambitious, high-octane tale of power, destiny, love and redemption.
