Hello my fellow readers. Today I'm gonna talk about The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes.
A Cinderella story with deadly stakes and thrilling twists. And The first book of TIG-series.
Avery Grambs is a poor and orphaned girl who lives in a car. She is a hard worker who wants to get into a good school and leave her sh*tty life behind. But then something unbelievible happens. She inherits billions of dollars from Tobias Hawthorne, only if she lives in The Hawthornes house for a full year. That's the part where it gets interesting. The Hawthorn brothers get in sight and this book doesn't have a love triangle in it.. (at the moment) but it's certainly brewing in the first book.
The Hawthorne brothers are something else. They are mysterious boys who are all intelligent but a competition to each other. A competition because Avery didn't come with a reason to the house. They need to find out why Avery Grambs inherited all the money of their grandfather and what is she to Tobias Hawthorne that they are not?
The characters are mysterious and interesting to read. They all have their secrets and trauma. They speak in puzzles and riddles and know things that others don't know. Which is enjoyable to read.
I love a good mystery book and I really liked reading this one because it was exciting to read, but also because of the not-knowing what happens next. The puzzles and riddles were fun and mysterious. The plot-twists were out of the blue and the cliffhanger god me amazed. I really enjoyed reading this book and I'm waiting for the second book because I need answers and I want to find out if there is gonna be a love triangle because it truly was brewing in this book. I recommend this book if you enjoy a good YA-mystery book. And I'm counting down the days for the second book "The Hawthorne Legacy".
Synopsis:
Avery Grambs has a plan for a better future: survive high school, win a scholarship and get out. But her fortunes change in an instant when billionaire Tobias Hawthorne dies and leaves Avery virtually his entire fortune. The catch? Avery has no idea why-or even who Tobias Hawthorne is. To recieve her inheritance, Avery must move into sprawling, secret passage-filled Hwathorne House, where every room bears the old man's touch, and his love of puzzles, riddles and codes.
Unfortunately for Avery, Hawthorne House is also occupied by the family that Tobias Hawthorne just dispossessed. This includes the four Hawthorne grandsons: dangerous, magnetic, brilliant boys who grew up with every expectation that one day, they would inherit billions. Heir apparent Grayson Hawthorne is convinced that Avery must be a con-womand and he's determind to take her down. His brother, Jameson, views her as their grandfather's last hurrah: a twisted riddle, a puzzle to be solved. Caught in a world of wealth and privilege, with danger around every turn, Avery will have to play the game herself just to survive.
Love, ❤
