I bought this book two weeks ago because the cover looks amazing and the story on the backside looks interesting. However, I was a bit disappointed when I read this book. I thought the information at the beginning of the book was really interesting and easy to read with, but there was no further depth in the story about the realms. I felt like the book had some great ideas in it; for a book, but I missed the depth of the whole story in it. Maddie cried a lot, and I don't mind when a character cries a lot, but I felt like that was the only thing she did when she needed to solve any problem in the inn.. Also two maincharacters "lost" there characters because one disapeared after a kiss and another was 'resting' almost the whole story and I missed those characters in the story. The romance between Brekken and Maddie didn't ad (in my opinion) anything to the story, they knew each other there whole lives and they liked each other for years, and they just kissed.. Which is in my opinion a waste of lovestory :(. I'm thinking, "do I want to read the next book?" 'Phoenix flame'? I don't know.. I feel like there are better books to read, but maybe I will read the next book and my impression will change of this series. But at the moment I don't feel like reading Phoenix Flame, also because I don't like the book cover.. Will see what time brings, and maybe in the futher I think I might read it.

Storyline:
A safe haven between four realms and the girl sworn to protect it - at any cost.
Hidden deep in the mountains of Colorado lies the Inn at Havenfall, a sanctuary that connects ancient worlds - each with its own magic. For generations, the inn has protected all who seek refuge within its walls, and any who disrupt the peace can never return.
For Maddie Morrow, summers at the inn are more than a chance to experience this magic firsthand. Havenfall is an escape from reality, where her mother sits on death row accused of murdering Maddie's brother. It's where Maddie fell in love with handsome Fiorden soldier Brekken. And it's where one day she hopes to inherit the role of the Innkeeper from her beloved uncle.
But this summer, the impossible happens - a dead body is found, shattering everything the inn stands for. With Brekken missing, her uncle gravely injured, and a dangerous creature on the loose, Maddie suddenly finds herself responsible for the safety of everyone in Havenfall. She'll do anything to uncover the truth, even if it means working together with an alluring new staffer, Taya, who seems to know more than she's letting on. As dark secrets are revealed about the inn itself, one thing becomes clear to Maddie - no one can be trusted, and no one is safe..

Bestselling author Sara Holland pulls readers into an enchanting world where both power and peril lurk behind every door.
