I liked this book more then Shadow & Bone. It was more thrilling. Some scenses were tension, nail-biting and heartbroken. The characters have improved and Alina's strength has grown. In my last review, I liked that Alina endid with Mal. But, Mal was kinda a d*ck at the end of this book, and Alina wasn't a saint neither. To be honest, I kinda missed the Darkling. When Alina thought she had this visions about the Darkling, she actually was searching for him. Trying to connect with him. It kinda felt like she wanted to be found by him, even when she was with Mal or had her moments with Nikolai. Was it always been the Darkling and not Mal? Even when she has been in love with Mal her whole life? She whined a lot about Mal, he did everything for her until he quit.. At a certain point they stopped talking. I wished they told each other everything. Because there love seemed a bit lost, which was kinda sad to read. At least she can chose somebody else if she loses Mal, hahah. I'm excited to read the third book of this series. We will see where Alina's heart belongs to and what will happen to Ravka...
Storyline:
Hunted across the True Sea, haunted by the lives she took on the Fold, Alina must try to make a life with Mal in an unfamiliar land, all while keeping her identity as the Sun Summoner a secret. But she can't outrun her pas or her destiny for long.
The Darkling has emerged from the Shadow Fold with a terrifying new power and a dangerous plan that will test the very boundaries of the natural world. Withe the help of a notorious privateer. Alina returns to the country she abandoned, determined to fight the forces gathering against Ravka. But as her power grows, Alina slips deeper into the Darkling's game of forbidden magic, and farther away from Mal. Somehow, she will have to choose between her country, her power, and the love she always thought would guide her - or risk losing everything to the oncoming storm.
Love,
